Professor Sarath Kotagama is a renowned Sri Lankan ornithologist, environmentalist, and academic who has made significant contributions to wildlife conservation and environmental education in Sri Lanka. Widely regarded as one of the country’s leading experts on birds, he has dedicated his career to studying and protecting Sri Lanka’s rich biodiversity, inspiring generations of nature lovers and conservationists.

He served as a Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Colombo and was the former Director of the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC). During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping national policies on wildlife protection and sustainable environmental management.
