La tradición ayurvédica de Sri Lanka cuenta con una rica variedad de plantas medicinales utilizadas durante siglos. Sri Lanka posee una vasta tradición de medicina ayurvédica, basada en su conocimiento indígena y en una diversidad de plantas medicinales. Syngonium angustatum (Wel Kohila)
Syngonium angustatum (Wel kohila; ???? ?????) is part of the catalog of ayurvedic medicinal plants of Sri Lanka.This Syngonium plant, the leaves are dark green with light green veins and have multiple lobes. Juvenile leaves don’t yet have these lobes, but will develop them later on.
The juvenile leaves of Syngonium angustatum are tri-lobed with yellow along the midvein of the green leaves. If this plant is allowed to climb a support it will produce mature foliage with up to nine distinct lobes, but will lose the yellow coloration.
This climbing plant can also be grown as a trailer, with a more chaotic, wild growth style. It’s fast growth, leaf shape and color makes this a perfect plant for anyone who wishes for their home to soon be a indoor jungle.
The leaves of the medicinal plant are good to take for food. Leaves oblongand fresh leaves are also added to curries, mallows and leaf porridge. Slightly ripened leaves should be considered for bite, and when preparing food, methods such as wiping (drying) with a cloth to dry the broken day should be followed. Dhal or Jackfruit Curry and Goraka Leaf Curry Garlic Mixture is very tasty and nutritious.
Ayurvedic Qulities
- This plant is rich in antibiotics and antioxidants, which are good for the eyes. Protects the body from eye diseases.
- Fever wounds, starvation, working against infections. Relieves constipation. Responds to hemorrhoids and urinary tract infections.
- For hemorrhoids, vine kohila porridge and leaf vocabulary are very beneficial in eating.
- It is said that the milky discharge that comes from cutting the vines and kohila stems is put into a painful tooth to reduce the pain.
- Also, when the ants bite, drinking the juice gives relief.
- The roots and bark of the plant are said to have anti-inflammatory properties and are used to heal skin diseases and uterine wounds. When there is gas in the neck, it is better to eat it by steaming it on the rice instead of the vine kohila leaves.
